Expansion of Electrical Infrastructure

Nov. 1: The Nepal Electricity Authority is going to expand the transmission and distribution system.

According to the NEA, the Authority will do it to increase domestic consumption and export surplus electricity to India and Bangladesh. Jhapa, Morang and Sunsari districts of Province 1 have the potential to boost electricity consumption.

Kul Man Ghising, Managing Director of the NEA, visited Sunsari, Morang and Jhapa with a high-level team on Saturday and Sunday and took information on it. The team has carried out on-site studies to identify the possibility of constructing a cross-border transmission line between the Indian State of West Bengal, the shortest route for power export to Bangladesh. The team also received information about the under construction and currently in operation there.

The information of Siliguri Substation 400/220 kV Binnaguri of Power Grid India in West Bengal is also got by it.
