Kathmandu, Feb. 21: International Mother Language Day is being celebrated today by organizing different programmes. It falls on February 21 every year.
The United Nations declared February 21st, International Mother Language Day in 2000, in recognition of the Bengali people’s struggle for their language and culture. Then, it started to celebrate worldwide.
In Nepal, this day started to be celebrated about 10 years later. There are 131 languages spoken in Nepal.
