Starting of Shuklaphanta Festival

Dodhara Chandani, Feb. 22: The Shuklaphanta Festival has been started in Kanchanpur district from today to attract as many as tourists.

The Park extends on an area of 305 square kilometres. According to the Department of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation, it was a hunting reserve before and was turned into a National Park in 2017.

District Coordination Committee, Kanchanpur Chief Durga Dutta Bohara had inaugurated the Festival. He spoke for the need to develop the National Park as a tourist destination. Likewise, President of Kanchanpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Pitambar Joshi, stated that the local government should bring forward tourism promotion programmes in coordination of the private sector.

This Festival lasts for 10 days. It will include discussions, a secondary school level oratory competition on the importance of tourism and its conservation, sight-seeing, observation of herds of blackbuck etc.
