Kathmandu, Feb. 23: The eighth general convention of the National Folk and Duet Song Academy, Nepal is going to be held for February 24-26.
Ramesh BG, Chairman of the Academy, said that after the closing session of the first day of convention, they plan to decide the candidates of some positions including the chairman in the evening. They will conduct voting on the following day and announce the results on the last day.
He added, about 1,000 representatives will vote and elect office bearers from 72 district level committees, 6 province level committees, life members, honourary members and all representatives including the central committee.
According to Subas KC, General Secretary of the Academy, the Academy was established in 1998. It has its branch offices in 54 districts, 9 valley coordination committees, 9 foreign branches, 72 district level committees and 6 province level committees.
Badri Pangeni, the retiring chairman of the Academy, said that the Academy has made a great contribution to the development of folk music.
