Kathmandu, Mar. 17: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Autism Care Nepal Society (ACNS) and the popular Nepali rock band are partnering to stage a free Concert for Autism. It will be at Tudikhel on March 18.
As per a press release issued by Australian Embassy in Nepal, the concert will raise awareness and celebrate people with neuro-developmental differences. Around 300,000 children in Nepal are supposed to have autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
According to Dr. Sunita Malekhu, Chairperson of Autism Care Nepal Society, there is limited public knowledge about autism. Deputy Mayor of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Sunita Dangol, said that KMC has made disability inclusion a special priority and is working with different organizations for it.
Similarly, Australian Ambassador to Nepal Felicity Volk mentioned that the Australian Government prioritizes disability inclusive development. This concert will be instrumental in spreading messages about autism, Nepali rock band said.
