Jumla, Apr. 10: CPN (Maoist Centre) has honoured 60 married inter-caste couples in Jumla.
Speaking at the district conference of CPN (Maoist Centre) affiliated Dalit Mukti Morcha, Chairman Chandra Bahadur Nepali said that they had organized the honour programme in order to encourage the couples who got married going against caste discrimination.
Naresh Bhandari, Central Member of CPN (Maoist Centre) and District In-Charge said that since the party carries equality and proportionality as its main agenda, they had honoured the couples.
According to Karnali Provincial Government Whip and lawmaker Ransingh Pariyar, untouchability and a social behaviour such as denial of drinking water from Dalits should be eliminated from the society.
People’s representatives and employees elected from the Dalit community were also honoured in the programme.
