Doctors and lawmaker’s arrest in fake educational certificate case

Kathmandu, Aug. 11: Four doctors and a lawmaker have been arrested in connection with the fake educational certificate case.

Additional Inspector General of Police Kiran Bajracharya, chief of the Central Investigation Bureau of Nepal Police, said that 5 people have been arrested in the case so far.

According to him, those arrested doctors are Dr. Rambabu Yadav, Dr. Ranjit Yadav, Dr. Elina Sah and Dr. Amit Chaudhary and a lawmaker Dr. Sunil Kumar Sharma.

CIB said that Sharma was arrested for an investigation after a certificate said to be issued from an institution in India was revealed to be fake. Sharma, who is the owner of a medical college, had pursued MBBS based on the certificate.

He was elected to the House of Representatives from Morang-3 in the last year’s polls. Sharma is considered close to the Shekhar Koirala camp in the Nepali Congress.
